Come join our middle and high school students as we dive into God's word! Our youth groups meet on Sunday mornings and Sunday nights. Starting in September we start our Wednesday night classes. We also have different events outside of our normal class time. Be sure to check out our events page and sign up to be a part of those events.

This is the SCOC Youth Team. Each Member of this team has felt a calling of God on there life to serve the youth of Christ's Church. We look at our team as a team of Disciplemakers looking to change the world through the youth of the church.

Youth Minister

Nathan Shelton

I'm the Youth Minister here at SCOC. My heart is all about youth ministry! From the late nights to the hard questions, I'm here for our youth to help them navigate what it is to be a christian in this world. I believe that God has called me to help the church of today change tomorrow for His glory.

I believe that God specifically burdens my heart to work the youth of the church because I want them to be heard, to help develop their views and values to align with the truth and to get to witness childlike faith. I want to be a vessel for them to see God’s goodness, faithfulness and righteousness. My goal is that my influence will help create a knowledge of God’s word, with which comes connection to spreading the gospel and living out the Word daily. I want to make a difference in God’s kingdom and can’t think of a better place to start than to invest into the future of the church.

I’d say it felt called to work with the youth due to my own life being so heavily affected by my time in Sherman’s youth group. I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it, so I hope that I can help provide a similar experience for the kids in youth group today. Helping them deepen their bonds with God and each other!

“It wasn’t so much as God calling me to work with the youth, Nathan did.” No seriously the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Helping kids build a firm foundation in Christ is one of the most important things we can do. It’s something they can take into the world and spread the gospel message, not only with their words, but with their lives.
